For many children, particularly those experiencing Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), social skills are more than a typical developmental challenge , they are an invaluable life skill. With the popularity of social skill groups, many children are able to bridge the gap that allows them to connect with peers, teachers - the world.
But for some children, social skills groups are not the key. For many reasons these children remain caught in the web of tangled peer and social relationships. While many children are able to perform well in their group settings, they often have difficulty applying these skills across multiple environments (called 'generalization'). Many frustrated parents have experienced the child who can verbalize the skill, perform it well in a group setting, but still have trouble in the areas where it really counts - in the classroom, on the playground and other environments where interpersonal interactions are crucial.
Individual Social Training provides precise, tailor made social solutions for the child who is struggling to gain competence in this area. An individual evaluation will be used to help determine the possible causes and solutions for your child's social challenges. Appropriate interpersonal interaction doesn't have to be a mystery - a personal guide can make the journey less daunting.
