Welcome to the professional website of Steve W. Mathis, MS, LPC-S. I am a Therapist and Behavioral Consultant in private practice in Dallas, TX. While I offer traditional Child, Adolescent & Family therapy as well as clinical supervision, I specialize in the treatment of challenging Childhood Emotional & Behavioral Disorders. I work with Porcupine Kids!

Who are Porcupine Kids?

Like their quilly counterparts, PorcupineKids tend to be hard to get close to emotionally and often times physically. With a vast array of aggressive or other distancing behaviors, PorcupineKids can be hard to hold physically (Porcupines are not particularly cuddly!). Emotionally, PorcupineKids are very adept at keeping the world at bay, often to their own detriment. They are often difficult to connect with at an interpersonal level. Many a Porcupine Parent, teacher or other caregiver has heart scars from trying to love their little Porcupines.
