Frequently
Asked Questions
What is a Behavioral Consultant?
A Behavior Consultant is a person who by a combination of academic training and practical experience, has learned to effectively apply the principles of behavior management and behavior modification to a variety of individuals in a variety of situations.
What services
do you offer? I design individual behavior plans and
interventions for children with difficult to manage behavior. I will also
evaluate a current behavior plan to help determine if it addresses the issues at
hand. This can be done
on an in home basis or an office consultation. I will work with school personnel
or other children’s services organizations. Additionally, I conduct
cooperative play groups and prepare customized individual anger management
assistance. I also offer individual social skills training as well as providing traditional Child & Adolescent & Family
Therapy.
Are you a therapist? Yes, I am licensed in the state of Texas as a Professional Counselor. The idea of therapy is to help the individual gain some insight into their behavior and use this information as a basis for behavior change. In my role as a behavior specialist, my focus is on using principles of behavior management to assist individuals in managing difficult to manage behavior. Often what some children and parents need is not a long, involved therapeutic experience, but rather a plan or simple tips to help make their daily lives easier. While my service is not a substitute for therapy, it is a great supplement to the psychotherapeutic process.
